Built in 1969 by Penn Central at the Samuel Rea Shops, these 60’ excess height boxcars were used for auto parts loading. Eventually, they made their way to the Conrail roster and were repainted. New York Central merged with its rival, the Pennsylvania Railroad, in 1968 to form Penn Central, which went bankrupt two years later and was merged into Conrail in 1976.
