The Southern Railway ordered more than 2,000 of these 9’ door cars during the transition era! These cars have distinctive “early” side sill configurations that have a pronounced deep side sill support underneath the door area only, ending before the trucks. These models have the early version of the Superior 9’ door, and Miner handbrake housings and wheels like the prototype did. These cars have the “classic” transition-era red carbody with red trucks. Stenciling includes “The Southern Serves the South” logo on the right side of the car, a Pullman Bessemer plant logo, and other Southern lettering technicalities just like the prototype. The roof is unpainted (galvanized) but includes the typical Pullman overspray onto the top of it from the sides and at the ends. Finally, these models ride on Tangent’s gorgeous new Barber S-2 50-Ton plain bearing truck, complete with separate brake beam detail. Our Southern models are offered with your choice of 12 road numbers, where SKUs 01-06 have a 11-51 build date, SKUs 07-12 have a 12-51 shop date.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0613/6453/5552/files/sou.3.4.1200logo_32e81c26-56ed-439a-bab6-30847abd0afd.jpg?v=1748909170
tan34010-01
Tangent HO Scale Burlington Northern (BN) “Repaint 4-1985” Thrall 5,880CuFt 60′ Double Plug Door Box Car 355170

Product: Thrall 5,880CuFt 60′ Double Plug Door Box Car

Scale: HO Scale 1:87.1

Truck: Tangent 100-Ton Barber S-2 trucks with rotating Timken caps and separate brake beam parts

Wheels: CNC-Machined 36″ Wheels

Modeling Dates: 1985-2005

– Burlington Northern BN “Repaint 1985” shows a distinctive repaint offering. Who cannot love the classy Union Pacific graphics? In 1970, Southern Pacific (SP) ordered two different lots of Greenville quad door auto parts box cars (yes, we will offer original SP down the road). While some of these lasted in original SP paint into the 2010s, many of them saw Building America paint in a program fashion. These cars represent the SP cars after painting, and they retain their SP reporting marks but include a full complement of UP stenciling styles, UP shield, and UP Building America® graphics. The underframe features accurate Center-of-Car Cushioning details with extended draft gear and this replica rides on 70-Ton Barber S-2 Roller Bearing Trucks with 33” wheels, rotating “Timken” caps and truck mounted brake details. Each individual car features number-specific data, delineator, and tack board placement. In other words, each is a “little” different! Collect all four while you can, and enjoy this modern-era offering!

Product: Greenville 86′ Quad Plug Door Box Car

Scale: HO Scale 1:87.1

Truck:Tangent 70-Ton Barber S-2 Birdsboro Foundry Roller Bearing trucks with “Timken” roller bearing caps

Wheels: CNC-Machined 33″ Wheels

Era: 1991-2009

– Canadian National (CNA) “Repaint 1991 Blue” is a hot car, no matter how you look at it. These prototype cars were repainted from the large ex-Grand Truck Western Greenville 86’ Quad Door fleet. This scheme is a product of the 1990s, so you will notice things like the CAPY line is missing from the car side. The doors are loaded with data, including modern safety stickers for opening, door lubrication data and bilingual door closing instructions. Canadian National modelers will be quick to notice that one side of the car is spelled “CANADIAN NATIONAL” while the other is spelled “CANADIEN NATIONAL” per prototype photos. Each door has the “third arm” cranks appropriate for the “modern” era and photos. These prototypes were originally built in 1970, so they have accurate details like truck-mounted brake gear, Ajax hand brake and End-of-Car Cushioning components. The end crossover platforms have been replaced with Morton style parts. The models ride on accurate Barber S-2 Birdsboro Foundry trucks with 33” wheels and rotating “Timken” roller bearing caps.
