Commencing operations in 1872 to transport coal from the rich mountain deposits of central Pennsylvania, the East Broad Top Railroad also played an important role as a common carrier for passengers and carload freight. Following closure in 1956, the railroad was reopened as a tourist passenger operation which lasted until 2011 when the rails fell silent once again. In 2021, the railroad returned to service for a second time, with steam returning in 2023. Today, the line operates as the oldest and most complete surviving narrow gauge railroad east of the Mississippi. The Rockhill Limited pays tribute to both the history of the line and its role as a tourist railroad, featuring a 2-6-0 steam locomotive with operating headlight, a combine car and coach car in the railroad’s current scheme, a 56" x 38" oval of snap-fit nickel silver E-Z Track®, and a power pack, speed controller, and illustrated instruction manual.
