Aurora Minatures is taking its place among the producers of the most detailed and great performing rolling stock, this time with its National Steel Car 3650 cf 66’ ‘Railgon’ Gondola. It has all the detail you could ask for specially compared to other manufacturers’ products - all wire grabs, near scale couplers, brake wheel chain, etched crossovers, extensive and detailed underbody brake equipment (much more than other manufacturers), tie down holes, animated rotating roller bearing caps, stenciled trucks (even with covers over the attachment screw holes), train line hoses and cut levers, readable and fine opaque printing, etc. The car is relatively free rolling with a slight drag going one way that doesn’t seem to effect pulling at all, with in-gauge wheels. It weighs about 4.5 ounces - about one ounce shy of NMRA specs, but it doesn’t effect performance on the track and you can always add a load.
