GE C30-7 – Classic Union Pacific Freight Power

Introduced in 1976, the General Electric C30-7 was a 3,000-horsepower, six-axle diesel-electric locomotive developed for heavy mainline freight service. Powered by a 16-cylinder GE diesel engine and equipped with a C-C wheel arrangement, the C30-7 became a familiar sight on North American railroads throughout the late 1970s, 1980s and beyond.

Union Pacific's C30-7 locomotives were delivered in 1978 and featured several distinctive railroad-specific details.
