Unlike a conventional left- or right-hand turnout, a wye turnout divides one incoming track into two diverging routes. Both routes diverge away from the centerline, creating symmetrical geometry that is useful for junctions and other locations where a conventional straight-and-diverging turnout does not fit the desired track arrangement.

#3.5 Wye Turnout Geometry

ATL2057 is specifically designed as a #3.5 wye turnout. The #3.5 designation refers to the turnout's frog geometry and should be preserved when selecting or planning trackwork.
