Atlas N Scale Code 80 Right Remote Switch Machine – ATL2716

Atlas N Scale Code 80 Right Remote Switch Machine – ATL2716 is a screw-on electrical switch machine designed to convert compatible Atlas N Scale Code 80 Standard and #6 turnouts from manual operation to remote control. Once installed and wired, the switch machine allows the turnout to be thrown electrically from a layout control panel rather than requiring the operator to manually change the turnout at trackside.

Designed specifically for compatible Atlas 2700-series N Scale turnouts, ATL2716 is the right-hand version of the Atlas surface-mounted remote switch machine. It is an excellent upgrade for layouts where centralized turnout control or easier access to remotely located switches is desired.

Convert Compatible Turnouts to Remote Control

ATL2716 converts compatible Atlas Standard and #6 switches to remote electrical operation. Instead of reaching across the layout to change the turnout by hand, the switch machine can be wired so the route is controlled from your operating panel.

This can make railroad operations easier on larger layouts and in areas where turnouts are difficult to reach.

Designed for Atlas 2700-Series Turnouts

Atlas specifies ATL2716 for use with compatible 2700-series N Scale turnouts, including Atlas Standard and #6 switches designed to accept this screw-on remote switch machine.

Because the switch machine is designed for specific Atlas turnout configurations, verify your turnout's item number and compatibility before installation.

Right-Hand Remote Switch Machine

ATL2716 is the right-hand version of the Atlas N Scale remote switch machine. The left/right designation identifies the switch machine configuration required for the corresponding compatible turnout installation.

For layouts using different turnout orientations, select the appropriate left- or right-hand remote switch machine for each compatible Atlas turnout.

Control Your Turnout from the Layout Panel

Remote turnout operation allows the model railroader to change track routes without physically reaching the turnout. Once ATL2716 is properly installed and wired, the turnout can be thrown electrically from a remotely located control.

This makes remote turnout control particularly useful for:

• Freight yards
• Passing sidings
• Industrial switching areas
• Station tracks
• Interchange tracks
• Turnouts located toward the rear of a layout
• Centralized layout control panels

Screw-On Installation

Atlas describes ATL2716 as a screw-on remote switch machine. It mounts to a compatible turnout and provides electrical operation of the turnout points when connected to the appropriate layout control wiring.

This product is the switch machine only. It is a turnout-control component and does not include the turnout or track section.

Remote vs. Manual Turnout Control

A manually controlled turnout requires the operator to physically change the track route at the turnout. Adding a compatible remote switch machine allows that routing function to be controlled electrically from another location on the layout.

Remote operation can make switching more convenient while allowing multiple turnout controls to be grouped together on a central layout control panel.
