Atlas N Scale Code 80 #8 Right Remote Turnout – ATL2720 combines broad #8 turnout geometry with convenient remote electrical operation for mainlines, passing sidings, crossovers and other demanding N scale track applications. Featuring nickel silver rail, black ties, an attached remote switch machine and a cast-metal frog that can be powered, this turnout is designed for model railroaders seeking smooth routing and reliable operation.

The broad #8 right-hand geometry provides a more gradual diverging route than tighter turnout designs, making ATL2720 especially useful for mainline-oriented trackwork and routes handling longer locomotives and rolling stock. Atlas also includes a #56 Switch Control Box for electrical turnout operation.

#8 Right-Hand Turnout Geometry

ATL2720 is a #8 right-hand turnout. When approaching the turnout from the single-track end, one route continues through the turnout while the diverging route branches toward the right.

The broad #8 geometry creates a more gradual divergence than tighter turnout designs. This makes it particularly useful where smooth operation, longer equipment and realistic-looking track transitions are important.

Remote Electrical Operation

ATL2720 features an attached remote-controlled switch machine that allows the turnout to be thrown electrically from a layout control panel. This provides convenient route control without requiring the operator to reach the turnout each time the route needs to be changed.

Remote operation is especially useful for mainline turnouts, passing sidings, crossovers, staging areas and other locations where centralized turnout control is desirable.

#56 Switch Control Box Included

Atlas includes a #56 Switch Control Box with ATL2720. The control box can be mounted on a layout control panel and used to electrically operate the turnout's attached switch machine.

The turnout can also be operated manually using the small sliding lever on the turnout motor, providing an additional method of changing the selected route.

Cast-Metal Frog

A key feature of ATL2720 is its cast-metal frog. Atlas specifically identifies the cast-metal frog as a feature of these N Scale Code 80 #8 turnouts.

The metal frog can also be electrically powered for optimum performance and reliability, giving modelers the option to provide electrical power through the frog when desired.

Frog powering is optional and requires appropriate wiring based on the layout's electrical and turnout-control system.
