ALCo C415 Prototype Information
Built by ALCo between 1966 and 1968, the C415 was a four-axle center-cab locomotive designed for switching and general-purpose service. Its unconventional appearance, center-mounted cab and ALCo 251-series power made the C415 one of the more distinctive diesel designs of its era. Only a small number were produced, making the locomotives especially recognizable to ALCo enthusiasts and modelers of the railroads that operated them.
