EMD GP35 Prototype
Built during the mid-1960s, the EMD GP35 was a four-axle diesel-electric locomotive powered by an EMD 567D3A 16-cylinder prime mover producing approximately 2,500 horsepower. More than 1,300 GP35 locomotives were produced for U.S. railroads, with additional examples built for Canadian and Mexican operators. Their combination of horsepower, versatility, and familiar EMD road-switcher styling made GP35s a common sight on major North American railroads.
With its 1980s Union Pacific appearance, advanced Paragon4 electronics, road-specific detailing, and powerful HO scale drive system, Union Pacific #761 makes an excellent addition to a UP diesel roster, freight operation, locomotive collection, or transition into more modern-era Union Pacific modeling.
