Small Diagonal vs. Flat & Rounded Weathering Brushes

Different brush shapes provide unique advantages when applying weathering effects. Flat brushes are useful for broader surfaces and straight edges, while rounded brushes are well suited to localized blending and working around irregular textures.

The Atlas Brush Company Small Diagonal Weathering Brush features an angled profile that can be particularly convenient for reaching corners, highlighting narrow details, and applying weathering effects from different directions.

Pair the ABC4553 with the ABC4551 Flat Shaped Weathering Brush and ABC4552 Rounded Weathering Brush for a versatile selection of specialty weathering tools.

Tips for Using a Small Diagonal Weathering Brush

For drybrushing, apply a small amount of paint to the brush and remove most of it on a paper towel before gently brushing across raised details. Use light pressure and build the effect gradually to avoid excessive paint buildup.

When applying dry weathering pigments, begin with a small quantity and carefully work the material into the desired areas. The diagonal brush shape can be useful for reaching narrow surfaces and highlighting small details.

Clean the brush using a cleaner appropriate for the paint or weathering product being used, and allow it to dry thoroughly before storage.
