The NixTrainz Decoder Buddy V1B NTZ1 is an 8-output 21-pin DCC decoder motherboard designed to simplify locomotive decoder installations by replacing direct decoder wiring with a structured, soldered interface. It is intended for use with modern 21-pin DCC sound and function decoders.

The NTZ1 is based on the Decoder Buddy V1B platform and is designed for HO scale locomotive installations requiring organized wiring for motor control, track pickup, speaker connections, and multiple lighting functions.

21-Pin Decoder Installation Board

The NTZ1 provides a centralized wiring system that routes locomotive electrical connections through clearly labeled solder pads. This eliminates the need to wire directly to the decoder and improves installation reliability and serviceability.

It includes a 21-pin decoder receptacle along with dedicated pads for track power, motor outputs, speaker connections, and lighting functions.

8 Function Lighting Output System

The V1B platform provides up to 8 lighting outputs on a dedicated connector section, allowing control of headlights, rear lights, ditch lights, and other auxiliary lighting effects depending on decoder configuration.

The NTZ1 version includes onboard resistor support (commonly 2.2K), which simplifies LED installations and reduces the need for external resistors in many configurations.

Stay-Alive and Sound Decoder Support

The NTZ1 includes solder pads for stay-alive or power storage integration, improving performance over dirty track, turnouts, and intermittent electrical pickup areas.

Speaker pads are also included for use with modern sound decoders, making it suitable for ESU LokSound, SoundTraxx Tsunami2, Digitrax, and similar 21-pin decoder systems.

Designed for DCC Conversions and Upgrades

The NTZ1 is used in locomotive conversions where factory wiring is replaced with a structured decoder interface. It is commonly used for upgrading DC locomotives or replacing OEM circuit boards in sound-equipped models.
