NixTrainz Power Bridge III NTZ204 2-Wire DCC Stay Alive Module

The NixTrainz Power Bridge III NTZ204 is a compact 2-wire DCC stay-alive module designed to improve locomotive performance by maintaining short-term power during electrical interruptions. It uses a supercapacitor-based energy storage system to keep locomotives running smoothly over dirty track, turnouts, and intermittent pickup areas.

This module is designed for use with DCC decoders that support 2-wire stay-alive or external power buffer connections, including systems such as ESU LokSound, TCS Tsunami2, and other compatible decoder platforms.

2-Wire Stay Alive System

The NTZ204 uses a simplified 2-wire connection system, making installation easier in tight locomotive spaces. It connects directly to compatible decoder power inputs without requiring additional control wiring, making it one of the most compact solutions in the Power Bridge lineup.

This design allows for flexible installation in smaller HO and N scale locomotives where space is limited.

Supercapacitor Energy Storage

At the core of the NTZ204 is a supercapacitor energy storage system rated at approximately 0.6 farads (combined capacity). This stored energy is released instantly when track power is lost, keeping the decoder active during brief interruptions.

This results in smoother slow-speed operation, reduced stalling over frogs and switches, and uninterrupted sound performance in sound-equipped locomotives.

Compact Installation Design

The Power Bridge III is designed with a compact footprint, allowing installation inside locomotives with limited internal space. The capacitors may be mounted remotely from the main board in some configurations, providing additional flexibility during installation.

This makes it suitable for tight HO scale steam locomotives, switchers, and modern diesel shells where internal volume is restricted.

Improved DCC Performance

The NTZ204 significantly improves operational reliability by reducing the effects of dirty track, inconsistent pickup, and momentary power loss. It is especially useful in layouts with complex switching, yard operations, or older rail systems.
