Representing Burlington Northern commuter service from the early 1970s through the mid-1980s, this set includes one cab car and two coaches, each finished in the distinctive BN commuter paint scheme.

Originally developed to accommodate growing suburban passenger traffic, Budd Gallery Cars featured a unique bi-level interior with upper seating galleries overlooking the center aisle. Their stainless steel construction, wide center doors, and increased passenger capacity made them a familiar sight on Chicago commuter trains for decades.

Following the creation of Burlington Northern in 1970, these cars continued operating in Chicago-area commuter service. Many received head-end power (HEP) conversions during the 1970s, replacing their original steam-heating systems with electric heating and updated lighting.
