Piko 35028 R/C Analog Power Set, 5A/120V (G-Scale)

This unit is a small design with everything you need for DC analog G scale train set up. Wire connectors are a bit loose. I prefer a tighter fit. Had to replace the included china dead battery to make work initially. It is a CR2025. I went with a Duracell brand battery and worked once replaced. Instructions had no information on how to replace the battery in the fob. There is a coin slot on the bottom edge. I used a nickel coin with a twist to separate the two black housing piece. Once open, slide out the old battery and insert a new one. Do not try to use a CR2032 as those are too thick. It takes a while to get use to using for various speeds. The push and hold is also not very clear in the instructions. Push and hold to increase/reduce the speed. The emergency stop functions well with a short slow down. Overall the operation is smooth.

Power set did not initially operate when connected to train set. Fusion Scale support team was great, and they helped address the issue where the Piko manual was lacking. Three different vendors' batteries were installed before it worked. Customers should receive an operational remote with a good battery. Piko manuals should be enhanced to include additional information on troubleshooting a nonfunctioning power set, caused by the battery. Consider recommending a battery manufacturer that works consistently with this Piko remote. The remote’s power input design is clearly marginal and should be redesigned to operate with a wider range of CR 2025 batteries. After a suitable battery was installed, the Power Set operated without issue.
