The Tangent Scale Models HO Scale Southern Railway PS4750 Covered Hopper SOU #88621 recreates one of Southern Railway's Pullman-Standard PS-2CD 4750 covered hoppers in its striking 1981 delivery gray paint scheme. Featuring the large black SOUTHERN lettering prominently displayed across the light gray carbody, this highly detailed model represents an important prototype for Southern Railway and later Norfolk Southern freight operations.
Southern ordered 1,000 Pullman-Standard 4750 covered hoppers across two delivery groups during 1980 and 1981. SOU #88621 represents a car from the second order and features March 1981 delivery data. Tangent accurately reproduces the specialized details found on these Southern cars, including the late Pullman closed-hole side posts, thick sill protrusions above the bolsters and distinctive wide jacking tabs.
