The Tangent Scale Models HO Scale Southern Railway PS4750 Covered Hopper SOU #88620 recreates a late-service example of Southern's 1981 Pullman-Standard PS-2CD 4750 covered hoppers. Modeled in its 2005+ appearance, #88620 retains the character of its original Southern paint scheme while incorporating decades of service wear and federally mandated modern safety markings.
This version features a faded gray body with black lettering, updated patches and reweigh data, yellow conspicuity striping and AEI tag equipment. Tangent photo-matched individual cars in this release, allowing details such as patch placement, lettering, data locations and AEI bracket configuration to vary by road number for a more accurate representation of the prototype.

SOU #88620 is a strong choice for modelers recreating contemporary Southern successor-era freight operations, where older covered hoppers continued working alongside newer equipment. Its faded original paint, later patching and modern safety appliances give it the varied, heavily used appearance commonly seen in real-world grain and dry bulk service.
