The Tangent Scale Models HO Scale Missouri-Kansas-Texas MKT #4226 PS4750 Covered Hopper recreates one of the distinctive Pullman-Standard PS-2CD 4750 covered hoppers built for the MKT in late 1979. Finished in the eye-catching MKT “Original 12-1979” scheme, #4226 features a bright green body accented by large yellow MKT lettering for an unmistakable Katy freight car appearance.
Missouri-Kansas-Texas received just one order of PS4750 covered hoppers, making these cars a particularly distinctive part of the railroad's freight car fleet. Tangent developed road-specific details to accurately represent the MKT prototypes rather than simply applying Katy lettering to a generic PS4750 body. Details including the jacking pads, brake system, roof hatches and hand brake configuration reflect the equipment found on MKT's actual cars.
