Based on purpose-built cars constructed by the Southern Iron and Equipment Company (SIECO) beginning in the 1960s, these specialized freight cars served well into the 2000s hauling pulpwood between woodland loading points and paper mills.
The prototype's distinctive open design featured a V-sloped deck and tall end bulkheads to help keep pulpwood loads securely in place during transit. WalthersProto recreates this specialized freight car with separately applied details, a heavy die-cast metal frame and premium running gear for dependable operation on an HO scale layout.
