Finished in the Patriot Rail corporate paint scheme, this unique model includes customer-applied decals for Louisiana & North West (LNW), Piedmont & Northern (PNRW), Sacramento Valley (SAV), Tennessee Southern (TC), and Utah Central (URCY), allowing modelers to finish the locomotive for their preferred Patriot Rail operation or use it as the starting point for a freelanced locomotive.
Patriot Rail operates a number of shortline railroads across the United States, with its GP15-1 locomotives sharing a common corporate paint scheme. Athearn recreates the Patriot Rail GP15-1 with an ex-Conrail configuration featuring a blunt-style front anticlimber, Blomberg B trucks, removed nose class lights, illuminated number boards, and front and rear alternating flashing ditch lights when equipped with DCC.
Additional Genesis detailing includes a full cab interior, coupler cut levers, trainline and MU hoses, windshield wipers, wire grab irons, walkway tread, lift rings, sander lines, fine-scale handrails, and a detailed fuel tank. Underneath, Athearn's Genesis driveline combines a 5-pole skew-wound motor, precision-machined flywheels, all-wheel drive, and all-wheel electrical pickup for smooth and reliable operation. This model is DCC Ready with Quick Plug plug-and-play technology and a 21-pin NEM connector for installation of a compatible aftermarket decoder.
