Add a versatile modern shortline diesel to your roster with the Athearn Genesis HO Scale EMD GP15-1 Patriot Rail – DCC/Sound – ATHG-1900. Finished in the Patriot Rail corporate paint scheme, this unique model includes customer-applied decals for Louisiana & North West (LNW), Piedmont & Northern (PNRW), Sacramento Valley (SAV), Tennessee Southern (TC), and Utah Central (URCY), allowing modelers to finish the locomotive for their preferred Patriot Rail operation.
The prototype EMD GP15-1 is a four-axle diesel-electric locomotive designed for yard switching and light road service. Athearn Genesis recreates the GP15-1 with extensive prototype detailing including operating number boards, coupler cut levers, trainline and MU hoses, a full cab interior, windshield wipers, wire grab irons, walkway tread, lift rings, sander lines, fine-scale handrails, and a detailed fuel tank. This Patriot Rail version represents an ex-Conrail locomotive configuration with a blunt-style front anticlimber, Blomberg B trucks, removed nose class lights, lit number boards, and front and rear alternating flashing ditch lights.
Power comes from Athearn's Genesis driveline with a 5-pole skew-wound motor, precision-machined flywheels, all-wheel drive, and all-wheel electrical pickup. A heavy die-cast frame provides additional traction and pulling power, while body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers and RP25 wheel contours provide reliable operation. This DCC/Sound model comes factory-equipped with a SoundTraxx Tsunami2 sound decoder and dual cube speakers and can operate on both DC and DCC layouts.
