#7 Left-Hand Turnout Geometry

ATL2052 is a #7 left-hand turnout. When approaching the turnout from the single-track end, one route continues through the turnout while the diverging route branches toward the left.

Compared with smaller-numbered turnouts, the #7 design provides a longer and more gradual diverging route. This broader geometry requires additional layout space but provides smoother-looking track transitions and is well suited to mainline-oriented trackwork.

Metal Frog That Can Be Powered

This Atlas Code 55 turnout features a metal frog that can be electrically powered. Powering the frog can help maintain electrical pickup as locomotives travel through the turnout, which can be particularly useful for locomotives with shorter electrical pickup wheelbases.
