Atlas N Scale Code 65 True-Track 90° Crossing with Roadbed – ATL2420 allows two independent N scale tracks to cross one another at a 90-degree right angle. Designed as part of the Atlas N Scale True-Track system, this fixed crossing combines Code 65 rail, prototypical U.S. tie spacing and integrated simulated ballast roadbed in a convenient sectional track component.
Unlike a turnout or switch, ATL2420 does not route a train from one track to another. Instead, the two routes cross and continue straight through the intersection, making this piece useful anywhere a track plan requires two lines to intersect at a right angle.
90° Right-Angle True-Track Crossing
ATL2420 creates a fixed 90° crossing between two tracks. Each route passes directly through the intersection, providing straightforward geometry for track plans where two independent lines need to cross.
- 90° crossing angle
- Fixed crossing geometry
- Two independent routes cross at a right angle
- Each route continues straight through the crossing
- Code 65 rail
- Integrated simulated ballast roadbed
- Prototypical U.S. tie spacing
Crossing – Not a Turnout or Switch
A track crossing serves a different purpose than a turnout. A turnout allows a train to follow one of multiple routes, while ATL2420 simply allows two independent tracks to cross one another.
There is no selectable diverging route. Equipment approaching the crossing remains on its existing track and travels straight across the intersecting route.
Useful for Intersecting N Scale Track Arrangements
A 90° crossing can be incorporated into a variety of N scale track plans where two tracks need to intersect within a compact area. The right-angle geometry makes ATL2420 especially useful for industrial, yard and specialized track arrangements.
Potential applications include:
- Intersecting railroad lines
- Industrial track arrangements
- Yard and switching areas
- Branch line intersections
- Compact N scale track plans
- Special track arrangements
- Temporary layouts
- Modular layouts
Atlas N Scale Code 65 True-Track
Atlas N Scale True-Track combines the rails, ties and simulated ballast roadbed into an integrated sectional track system. This provides the convenience and predictable geometry of sectional track while eliminating the need to install separate roadbed beneath each True-Track component.
The system features Code 65 rail and prototypical U.S. tie spacing, combining convenient layout construction with a realistic track appearance.
Integrated Simulated Ballast Roadbed
ATL2420 features simulated ballast roadbed integrated beneath the crossing. This allows the crossing to maintain a consistent roadbed profile with compatible Atlas N Scale True-Track components and simplifies installation when building or expanding a True-Track layout.
