What Are Model Railroad Track Nails Used For?

Track nails are small fasteners used to secure model railroad track and roadbed to the layout surface. They provide a mechanical method of holding track in position while the railroad is being constructed and can also be used for permanent track installation where appropriate.

Atlas specifically designed these nails for model railroad applications, making them suitable for working with the smaller dimensions of HO and N scale track.

1/2" Round-Head Design

Each Atlas track nail measures approximately 1/2" long and features a round head. The compact size makes the nails appropriate for fastening track and roadbed without using oversized general-purpose hardware around your model railroad.

When installing track, nails should be driven carefully. Avoid forcing a nail down so tightly that it distorts the ties or changes the track gauge. The goal is to hold the track securely in position without deforming the track structure.
