Atlas N Scale Code 80 20° Crossing – ATL2565 is a fixed-angle track crossing designed to allow two independent N scale track routes to intersect at a 20-degree angle. Featuring Code 80 nickel silver rail and black railroad ties, this crossing integrates with Atlas N Scale Code 80 track for building junctions, intersecting routes and more complex track arrangements.

Unlike a turnout or switch, a crossing does not provide a diverging route from one track to another. Instead, two independent tracks cross through one another while each route continues straight through the intersection.

20° Fixed Track Crossing

ATL2565 provides a predetermined 20° crossing angle. The four approaches allow two separate track routes to intersect while maintaining their respective alignments through the crossing.

This makes the Atlas 20° Crossing useful for a variety of N scale track plans, including:

Crossing vs. Turnout

A track crossing and a turnout perform two different functions. A turnout or switch allows a train to move between a straight and diverging route, while a crossing allows two separate track routes to intersect.

With ATL2565, trains approaching on either route continue straight through the crossing rather than being routed onto the intersecting track.

The crossing features nickel silver Code 80 rail with black railroad ties, matching the construction and appearance of other Atlas N Scale Code 80 track components.

Code 80 refers to rail measuring approximately .080" high, providing a durable and widely used rail size for N scale model railroad layouts.

20° Crossing Geometry

The 20-degree crossing angle provides another track-planning option between shallow and steeper crossing geometries. It can be used where two routes need to intersect at a moderate angle while continuing independently through the junction.

Because ATL2565 uses fixed geometry, the surrounding track should be planned so all four approaches align correctly with the crossing.
