Atlas N Scale Code 80 30° Crossing – ATL2566 is a fixed-angle track crossing designed to allow two independent N scale railroad tracks to intersect at a 30-degree angle. Featuring Code 80 nickel silver rail and black railroad ties, this Atlas Snap-Track component integrates with compatible Atlas N Scale Code 80 track for building junctions, intersecting routes and more complex track plans.

Unlike a turnout or switch, a crossing does not allow a train to change from one route to another. Instead, two independent tracks cross through one another while each route continues straight through the intersection.

30° Fixed Track Crossing

ATL2566 provides a predetermined 30° crossing angle. The four approaches allow two separate railroad tracks to intersect while maintaining their individual routes through the crossing.

The 30° geometry can be useful for a variety of N scale track arrangements, including:

Crossing vs. Turnout

A track crossing is not a turnout or switch. A turnout provides a diverging route that allows a train to move from one track alignment to another. A crossing simply allows two independent tracks to intersect.

Trains entering ATL2566 from either route continue straight through the crossing rather than being diverted onto the intersecting track.

Atlas N Scale Code 80 Snap-Track

The complete Atlas Code 80 system includes straight track, curved track, crossings, turnouts and flex track, allowing modelers to combine fixed sectional-track geometry with custom trackwork when building an N scale railroad.

Nickel Silver Rail & Black Ties

This crossing features nickel silver Code 80 rail with black railroad ties, matching other Atlas N Scale Code 80 track components.

Code 80 refers to rail measuring approximately .080" high. Atlas Code 80 has long been a popular track system for N scale layouts thanks to its durable construction, extensive selection of track components and straightforward installation.

30° Crossing Geometry

The 30-degree crossing angle creates a more pronounced intersection than the Atlas 15° and 20° crossings, providing another geometry option when designing intersecting railroad routes.

Because the crossing uses fixed geometry, the surrounding track should be planned so that all four approaches align correctly with the crossing. Straight, curved and flex track can then be used as appropriate to connect the crossing with the rest of the railroad.

Build Complex N Scale Track Plans

Crossings make it possible to construct track arrangements that cannot be created using only straight and curved track. ATL2566 can become part of a railroad junction, industrial district, yard complex or other location where two independent routes need to cross.

The fixed 30° geometry also makes it easy to reproduce the same intersection angle when planning or expanding an Atlas Code 80 track system.
