Atlas N Scale Code 80 60° Crossing – ATL2568 is a fixed-angle track crossing designed to allow two independent N scale railroad tracks to intersect at a 60-degree angle. Featuring Code 80 nickel silver rail and black railroad ties, this Atlas Snap-Track component integrates with compatible Atlas N Scale Code 80 track for building junctions, intersecting routes and complex track arrangements.

Unlike a turnout or switch, a crossing does not provide a route from one track to another. Instead, two independent tracks cross through one another while each route continues straight through the intersection.

60° Fixed Track Crossing

ATL2568 provides a predetermined 60° crossing angle, allowing two separate railroad tracks to intersect while maintaining their individual routes through the crossing.

The steeper 60° geometry makes this crossing useful for a variety of N scale track arrangements, including:

Crossing vs. Turnout

A track crossing is not a turnout or switch. A turnout provides a diverging route that allows a train to move from one track alignment to another. A crossing allows two independent tracks to physically intersect while keeping the two routes separate.

Trains entering ATL2568 on either route continue straight through the crossing rather than being diverted onto the intersecting track.

The Atlas 60° Crossing features nickel silver Code 80 rail with black railroad ties, matching the construction and appearance of other Atlas N Scale Code 80 track components.

Code 80 refers to rail measuring approximately .080" high. The extensive Atlas Code 80 track system makes it easy to combine this crossing with compatible sectional and flex track when designing an N scale railroad.

60° Crossing Geometry

The 60-degree crossing angle creates a substantially steeper intersection than the Atlas 15°, 20°, 30° and 45° crossings. This provides another geometry option for track plans where two independent routes need to cross at a sharper angle.

Because ATL2568 uses fixed geometry, the surrounding track should be planned so all four approaches align properly with the crossing. Compatible straight, curved or flex track can then be used to connect the crossing with the remainder of the layout.
