Atlas N Scale Code 80 90° Crossing – ATL2569 is a fixed-angle track crossing designed to allow two independent N scale railroad tracks to intersect at a 90-degree right angle. Featuring Code 80 nickel silver rail and black railroad ties, this Atlas Snap-Track component integrates with compatible Atlas N Scale Code 80 track for building junctions, industrial areas, yards and complex track arrangements.

Unlike a turnout or switch, a crossing does not allow a train to change from one route to another. Instead, two independent tracks cross through one another while each route continues straight through the intersection. The 90° geometry creates a perpendicular crossing where the two track routes intersect at a right angle.

90° Right-Angle Track Crossing

ATL2569 provides a fixed 90° crossing angle, allowing one railroad track to cross directly over another at a perpendicular angle while maintaining two independent routes.

Crossing vs. Turnout

A track crossing is not a turnout or switch. A turnout provides a diverging route that allows a train to move from one track alignment to another. A crossing simply allows two independent railroad tracks to physically intersect.

Trains entering ATL2569 on either route continue straight through the crossing. There is no selectable or diverging route between the two intersecting tracks.

90° Crossing Geometry

The 90-degree crossing angle creates a true right-angle intersection between two track routes. This is the steepest crossing geometry in this group of Atlas N Scale Code 80 crossings and is useful when two tracks need to intersect perpendicularly.

Because ATL2569 uses fixed geometry, the surrounding track should be planned so that all four approaches align properly with the crossing. Compatible Atlas Code 80 straight, curved and flex track can then be used to connect the crossing to the remainder of the railroad.

Build Complex N Scale Track Plans

Crossings make it possible to create track arrangements beyond conventional straight and curved routes. A 90° crossing is particularly useful in compact areas where one route must pass directly across another, as well as in industrial, yard and terminal track arrangements.
