Atlas N Scale Code 80 #6 Left Remote Turnout – ATL2704 provides a remotely operated left-hand #6 turnout for building smooth, realistic track routes on an N scale model railroad. Featuring nickel silver rail, black ties and an attached remote-control switch machine, this turnout allows the selected route to be changed electrically from your layout control panel rather than manually at the track.
The #6 turnout geometry provides a more gradual diverging route than tighter standard turnout designs, making ATL2704 an excellent choice for mainlines, passing sidings, yard approaches, crossovers and other locations where smoother routing is desirable.
#6 Left-Hand Turnout Geometry
ATL2704 is a #6 left-hand turnout. When approaching the turnout from the single-track end, one route continues through the turnout while the diverging route branches toward the left.
The #6 geometry provides a broader, more gradual route through the turnout than tighter switch designs. This makes #6 turnouts especially useful when designing trackwork for smoother operation and more prototypical-looking transitions between routes.
Remote Electrical Operation
Atlas equips ATL2704 with an attached remote-control switch machine. Once properly wired, the turnout can be electrically thrown from the layout control panel, allowing the operator to select the desired track route without manually reaching the turnout.
Remote turnout operation is particularly useful for switches located farther from the operator, centralized control panels and larger layouts with multiple controlled routes.
#56 Switch Control Box Included
The ATL2704 remote turnout includes an Atlas #56 Switch Control Box. The control box provides the operator interface for electrically throwing the attached switch machine and changing the selected track route.
Where to Use a #6 Turnout
The broader geometry of a #6 turnout makes it a versatile choice for many areas of an N scale railroad, including:
- Mainline routing
- Passing sidings
- Crossovers
- Freight yard approaches
- Passenger station approaches
- Industrial leads
- Branch line connections
- Staging yard entrances
- Locations handling longer locomotives and rolling stock
