Atlas N Scale Code 80 Left Remote Switch Machine – ATL2715

Atlas N Scale Code 80 Left Remote Switch Machine – ATL2715 is a screw-on electrical switch machine designed to convert compatible Atlas N Scale Code 80 Standard and #6 turnouts from manual operation to remote control. Once installed and wired, the switch machine allows the turnout to be thrown electrically from a layout control panel instead of requiring the operator to manually change the turnout at trackside.

Designed specifically for compatible Atlas 2700-series N Scale turnouts, ATL2715 is the left-hand version of Atlas's surface-mounted remote switch machine. It is a useful upgrade for layouts where operators want centralized turnout control from a convenient operating position.

Convert Compatible Turnouts to Remote Control

ATL2715 allows compatible Atlas Standard and #6 switches to be converted to remote electrical operation. Rather than reaching across the layout to manually change the turnout, the switch machine can be wired so the route is controlled from your operating panel.

This can be especially useful on larger layouts or in areas where turnouts are difficult to reach during normal operation.

Designed for Atlas 2700-Series Turnouts

Atlas specifies ATL2715 for use with its 2700-series N Scale turnouts. This includes compatible Standard and #6 switches designed to accept the screw-on remote switch machine.

Because this switch machine is designed for specific Atlas turnout configurations, verify the turnout's item number and compatibility before installation.

Left-Hand Remote Switch Machine

ATL2715 is the left-hand version of the Atlas N Scale remote switch machine. The left/right designation refers to the switch machine configuration required for the corresponding compatible turnout installation.

For layouts using multiple turnout orientations, select the appropriate left- or right-hand switch machine for each compatible Atlas turnout.

Control Your Turnout from the Layout Panel

Remote turnout operation allows the model railroader to change track routes without physically reaching the turnout. Once ATL2715 is properly installed and wired, the turnout can be thrown from a remotely located electrical control.

This is particularly useful for:

• Freight yards
• Passing sidings
• Industrial switching areas
• Station tracks
• Interchange tracks
• Turnouts located toward the rear of a layout
• Centralized layout control panels

Screw-On Installation

Atlas describes ATL2715 as a screw-on remote switch machine. It mounts to the compatible turnout and operates the turnout points electrically when connected to the appropriate layout control wiring.

This product is the switch machine only. It is intended as a turnout-control component and does not include a complete turnout or track section.

Remote vs. Manual Turnout Control

A manually controlled turnout requires the operator to physically change the track route at the turnout. Adding a compatible remote switch machine allows that same routing function to be controlled electrically from another location on the layout.

Remote control can make railroad operations more convenient while allowing turnout controls to be grouped together on a central panel.
