Atlas N Scale Code 80 Snap-Track Starter Set – 36" x 24" Oval with Passing Siding – ATL2788 provides the track components needed to build a compact 36" x 24" N scale layout with a continuous-running loop and passing siding. Designed as an easy starting point for a first N scale railroad, this Atlas track package combines Code 80 sectional track, two manual turnouts, a rerailer and terminal joiners in one convenient set.

Atlas N Scale Code 80 Snap-Track features nickel silver rail and black ties and has been used by N scale model railroaders for decades. The included passing siding adds operational possibilities beyond a basic oval while keeping the overall track plan compact enough for smaller layout spaces.

36" x 24" N Scale Track Plan

ATL2788 is designed to construct a complete 36" x 24" track arrangement. The finished plan features a continuous-running loop with a passing siding, providing an excellent foundation for a compact N scale model railroad.

The continuous loop allows trains to run around the layout, while the siding provides an additional track where equipment can be parked or trains can pass one another during operating sessions.

Continuous Loop with Passing Siding

A basic oval is an excellent starting point for continuous train operation, but the addition of a passing siding makes ATL2788 much more versatile. The siding creates a second route through part of the layout and introduces new possibilities for train meets, equipment storage and basic switching operations.

The siding is accessed using the included left- and right-hand manual turnouts.

Includes Two Manual Turnouts

The Starter Set includes one left-hand and one right-hand standard manual turnout. These turnouts provide the diverging routes required to enter and exit the passing siding.

Manual turnouts are operated at the track rather than through an electrically powered remote switch machine, providing a straightforward setup for a compact starter railroad.

Includes Rerailer Track

An Atlas rerailer track section is included in the package. A rerailer helps guide locomotive and rolling stock wheels into the correct position on the rails, making it easier to place N scale equipment onto the track.

Because the rerailer is incorporated into an actual track section, it remains part of the completed layout rather than functioning as a separate handheld tool.

Includes Terminal Joiners

The included terminal joiner provides the electrical connection between the track and the layout's power system. This allows power to be supplied to the rails without requiring feeder wires to be soldered directly to the track at the initial connection point.

A power pack is not included with ATL2788 and must be purchased separately along with the locomotive and rolling stock needed to operate the railroad.

Atlas N Scale Code 80 Snap-Track

The set uses Atlas N Scale Code 80 Snap-Track. Code 80 rail measures approximately .080" high, and Atlas manufactures this track system with nickel silver rail and black ties.

Atlas Code 80 offers an extensive selection of compatible straight track, curved track, turnouts, crossings, flex track and accessories, making the starter set easy to expand as your railroad grows.

Expand Beyond the Starter Layout

The 36" x 24" configuration provides a starting point rather than limiting the railroad to a permanent track plan. Additional Atlas N Scale Code 80 track can be added to create longer mainlines, additional sidings, freight yards, industrial spurs and more complex operating arrangements.

Modelers can also incorporate Atlas Code 80 Super-Flex Track where custom track lengths or broader flowing curves are desired.

Track Package – Not a Complete Train Set

ATL2788 is a track starter set rather than a complete train set. It supplies the Atlas track components necessary to build the specified 36" x 24" track plan, but the locomotive, rolling stock and power pack are separate.

This makes the package a useful choice for modelers who already own N scale equipment or want to select their locomotive, cars and control system separately.
