Build Broader 22" Radius Curves

ATL463 provides fixed 22" radius geometry for creating consistent curves without manually forming flex track. Compared with tighter 18" radius sectional track, the broader 22" radius creates a more gradual curve while still fitting many home HO scale layouts.

Each section provides 22.5° of curvature, allowing the track to be assembled into several common curve configurations:

• 1 section: 22.5° curve
• 2 sections: 45° curve
• 4 sections: 90° quarter circle
• 8 sections: 180° semicircle
• 16 sections: 360° complete circle

Four Pieces Create a 90° Curve

One ATL463 package contains exactly enough track to create a 90° quarter-circle curve. This makes planning sectional-track layouts straightforward when connecting perpendicular sections of a track plan or building the corners of a continuous-running layout.

Two packages provide eight sections for a 180° semicircle, while four packages provide the 16 sections required for a complete 22" radius circle.

44" Diameter Complete Circle

A complete circle requires 16 sections and has a 44" track diameter. Keep in mind that an actual layout will require additional space beyond the 44" track-centerline diameter to provide clearance for the roadbed, trains, scenery and edge of the layout.

Why Choose a 22" Radius?

A 22" radius provides a broader curve than compact 18" radius HO track. The additional radius can improve the appearance of locomotives and rolling stock as they travel through curves and can accommodate equipment that requires more generous track geometry.

Check Your Equipment's Minimum Radius

Although 22" radius track provides a broader curve than 18" radius track, locomotives and rolling stock vary in their minimum-radius requirements. Always check the equipment manufacturer's recommended minimum radius, especially when operating long passenger cars, large locomotives or other long-wheelbase equipment.

Atlas HO Code 83 True-Track

Atlas True-Track combines Code 83 nickel silver rail and brown ties with integrated gray graveled roadbed. The roadbed features correctly angled shoulders for a realistic track-and-ballast appearance while providing the convenience of a ready-to-assemble sectional track system.

The sectional design makes True-Track easy to assemble, disconnect and rearrange, making it useful for beginner layouts, temporary setups, portable railroads and permanent HO scale model railroads.

Removable Code 83 Track

Atlas HO True-Track uses Code 83 Snap-Track that can be removed from the molded roadbed and used separately. This provides additional flexibility if the track is later incorporated into a permanent layout using a different roadbed or scenery system.
