Atlas HO Code 83 True-Track 1/3 22" Radius Curved Track – 4-Pack – ATL464 includes four short curved track sections designed for precise adjustments to 22" radius curves on HO scale model railroad layouts. Each piece maintains a true 22" radius while providing one-third the angular length of a standard Atlas 22" radius True-Track section.

Each ATL464 section provides 7.5° of curvature, compared with 22.5° for a standard 22" radius True-Track section. With four pieces per package, ATL464 provides 30° of total curvature. These short curve sections are especially useful when a standard curved section would turn the track farther than required by the track plan.

What Does 1/3 22" Radius Mean?

The 1/3 designation does not mean this track has a smaller radius. ATL464 maintains the full 22" track radius. Instead, each piece is one-third the angular length of a standard 22" radius True-Track section.

A standard Atlas 22" radius True-Track curve provides 22.5° of curvature. Dividing that geometry into thirds gives ATL464 a 7.5° curve per section. This allows modelers to make much smaller directional adjustments while maintaining the same 22" radius.

Why Use a 1/3 22" Radius Curve?

Short curved fitting sections provide greater flexibility when working with fixed sectional-track geometry. A standard 22.5° curve may turn the track too far, while a 7.5° section allows the route to be adjusted in much smaller increments without changing the radius.

ATL464 is particularly useful for:

• 3 one-third sections: 22.5°

• 1 standard 22.5° section + 1 one-third section: 30°
• 1 standard 22.5° section + 2 one-third sections: 37.5°
• 2 standard 22.5° sections + 2 one-third sections: 60°

Three ATL464 sections equal the same 22.5° angle as one standard 22" radius True-Track curve, giving modelers the option to subdivide the standard curve geometry into smaller pieces.

Broader 22" Radius Geometry

The 22" radius provides a broader curve than Atlas 18" radius True-Track, allowing trains to follow a more gradual path through the curve. It can be a useful choice for mainline running, continuous-running layouts and equipment that benefits from broader track geometry.

Check Your Equipment's Minimum Radius

Locomotives and rolling stock vary in their minimum-radius requirements. Always check the equipment manufacturer's recommended minimum radius, particularly when operating longer locomotives, passenger cars or other long-wheelbase equipment.

Atlas HO Code 83 True-Track

Atlas True-Track combines Code 83 nickel silver rail and brown ties with integrated gray graveled roadbed. The roadbed features correctly angled shoulders for a realistic track-and-ballast appearance while providing the convenience of an easy-to-assemble sectional track system.

The True-Track system can be assembled, disconnected and rearranged as a track plan changes, making it useful for beginner layouts, temporary setups, portable railroads and permanent HO scale model railroads.

Removable Code 83 Track

Atlas HO True-Track uses Code 83 Snap-Track that can be removed from the molded roadbed and used separately. This provides additional flexibility if the track is later incorporated into a permanent layout using a different roadbed or scenery system.
