Each section features a 24" radius and 22.5° of curvature, with Atlas Code 83 nickel silver track mounted on integrated gray graveled roadbed.

Atlas specifies that 16 sections are required to create a complete 24" radius circle. With four sections included in this package, ATL468 provides 90° of total curvature, making one package enough to build a quarter-circle. A complete 24" radius circle has a 48" track diameter.

Build Broader 24" Radius Curves

ATL468 provides fixed 24" radius geometry for modelers who want broader curves while retaining the convenience of sectional roadbed track. The larger radius creates a more gradual change in direction than tighter 18" or 22" radius curves and can provide a more natural appearance for locomotives and rolling stock traveling around the layout.

Each section provides 22.5° of curvature, allowing the track to be assembled into several common configurations:

• 1 section: 22.5° curve
• 2 sections: 45° curve
• 4 sections: 90° quarter circle
• 8 sections: 180° semicircle
• 16 sections: 360° complete circle

Four Pieces Create a 90° Curve

One ATL468 package contains exactly enough track to create a 90° quarter-circle curve. This makes planning straightforward when connecting perpendicular sections of a track plan or building the corners of a continuous-running layout.

Two packages provide eight sections for a 180° semicircle, while four packages provide the 16 sections required for a complete 24" radius circle.

48" Diameter Complete Circle

A 24" radius creates a 48" track-centerline diameter. Keep in mind that the actual layout surface must be wider than 48" to provide clearance beyond the track centerline for the True-Track roadbed, locomotives and rolling stock, scenery and the edge of the layout.

Why Choose a 24" Radius?

A 24" radius is useful when layout space allows for broader HO scale curves. Compared with tighter sectional-track radii, the more gradual geometry can improve the appearance of longer equipment as it travels through curves and may accommodate locomotives and rolling stock that require more generous minimum-radius specifications.

Check Your Equipment's Minimum Radius

Broader curves generally provide greater flexibility for operating longer HO scale equipment, but minimum-radius requirements vary by model. Always check the locomotive or rolling stock manufacturer's recommended minimum radius before planning a layout around a specific curve size.

This is particularly important for long passenger cars, large steam locomotives, articulated locomotives and other equipment with long wheelbases or substantial overhang.

Atlas HO Code 83 True-Track

Atlas True-Track combines Code 83 nickel silver rail and brown ties with integrated gray graveled roadbed. The roadbed features correctly angled shoulders for a realistic track-and-ballast appearance while providing the convenience of a ready-to-assemble sectional track system.

The sectional design allows True-Track components to be assembled, disconnected and rearranged as a track plan changes, making the system suitable for beginner railroads, temporary setups, portable layouts and permanent HO scale model railroads.

Removable Code 83 Track

Atlas HO True-Track incorporates Code 83 Snap-Track that can be removed from the molded roadbed and used separately if desired. This gives modelers additional flexibility if the track is later incorporated into a more permanent layout using a different roadbed or scenery system.
