Atlas HO Code 83 True-Track 90° Crossing – ATL476 creates a fixed right-angle intersection where two HO scale railroad tracks cross one another. Designed as part of the Atlas True-Track system, this 90° crossing combines Code 83 track with an integrated gray graveled roadbed for easy assembly and a realistic finished appearance.
This is a crossing, not a turnout or switch. The two routes intersect at 90°, allowing trains to continue straight through the crossing on their respective tracks rather than changing from one route to another.
90° Right-Angle Track Crossing
ATL476 allows two tracks to intersect at a full 90° angle. This perpendicular geometry is useful anywhere one railroad route needs to cross directly over another without connecting the two routes.
A 90° crossing can be especially useful for:
- Industrial switching layouts
- Factory and warehouse districts
- Yard and terminal trackwork
- Dock and waterfront railroads
- Street-running scenes
- Compact switching layouts
- Complex track arrangements
- Railroad junction scenes
Crossing vs. Turnout
Unlike a turnout, ATL476 does not provide a choice between multiple routes. Instead, two independent tracks cross one another at a fixed 90° angle.
A train entering on one route continues straight through the crossing on that same route. The second track does the same in the perpendicular direction. This makes the crossing useful when two routes need to physically intersect without creating a switching junction between them.
Atlas HO Code 83 True-Track
Atlas True-Track combines precision Code 83 track with molded gray graveled roadbed. The roadbed features correctly angled shoulders and is designed to provide the appearance of prototype track installed over ballast.
Because the roadbed is incorporated directly into the track section, ATL476 can be added to a compatible True-Track layout without installing separate cork or foam roadbed underneath the crossing.
Integrated Gray Graveled Roadbed
The integrated roadbed is one of the primary differences between Atlas True-Track and conventional Code 83 sectional track. True-Track provides the track, roadbed and basic ballast appearance together in an easy-to-assemble sectional-track system.
This makes the system particularly useful for:
- Beginner HO scale layouts
- Temporary and portable layouts
- Tabletop railroads
- Layouts that may be rearranged or expanded
- Modelers who prefer integrated roadbed track

Useful for Compact & Industrial Trackwork
A 90° crossing creates a very different arrangement from the shallower-angle crossings commonly used at mainline railroad junctions. Its perpendicular geometry makes it especially useful where tracks intersect in compact spaces.
Industrial districts, terminals, yards and switching layouts can contain complex track arrangements where one route needs to pass directly across another. ATL476 provides the fixed geometry needed to reproduce these right-angle intersections within an Atlas True-Track layout.
Expand an Atlas True-Track Layout
ATL476 can be combined with additional Atlas True-Track straight sections, curved sections and turnouts to create more complex track plans. Adding a crossing allows two routes to intersect while remaining operationally separate, opening up additional possibilities for industrial and switching-oriented layouts.
True-Track Code 83 Construction
Atlas HO True-Track uses precision Code 83 track mounted to its integrated roadbed. Atlas also designs the Code 83 Snap-Track portion so it can be removed from the True-Track roadbed and used separately if a modeler later transitions the track into a more permanent layout.
