Atlas HO Code 83 9" Straight Track – 6-Pack – ATL520 includes six standard 9" straight sectional track pieces for building and expanding HO scale model railroad layouts. With 54" (4.5 feet) of straight track per package, these sections are ideal for mainlines, passing sidings, yards, industrial tracks, station areas and other locations requiring dependable fixed-length straight track.

Part of the Atlas HO Code 83 track system, ATL520 features nickel silver rail with prototypically fine brown ties for a more scale-appropriate appearance than traditional Code 100 track.

Six 9" Straight Track Sections

Each package contains six individual 9" straight track sections. Combined end-to-end, one package provides approximately 54" or 4.5 feet of straight track.

The standard 9" length makes ATL520 a versatile building block for Atlas sectional-track layouts and allows modelers to create predictable track geometry without measuring and cutting flex track.

Where Is 9" Straight Track Used?

Straight sectional track is one of the fundamental components of an HO scale railroad and can be used throughout a layout for:

Standard Sectional Track Geometry

For locations where a full 9" section will not fit, shorter Atlas Code 83 straight sections can be used to complete the required distance without cutting a standard section.

Sectional Track vs. Flex Track

Atlas sectional track provides fixed, repeatable geometry, making it especially convenient for beginners, published track plans and layouts where precise standard track lengths are useful.

Flex track provides greater freedom for creating custom alignments and long flowing trackwork. Many model railroad layouts use both systems, combining sectional track around specific geometry with flex track for longer runs and custom alignments.

Expand with Additional Straight Track

Different straight-track lengths are useful when precise track geometry is required. A standard 9" section can handle the majority of straight runs, while shorter sections can be used as filler pieces and geometry adjustments around turnouts, crossings, sidings and other fixed track components.

Combining several sectional-track lengths gives modelers considerably more flexibility without requiring every piece of track to be measured and cut individually.
