New Haven ALCO RS-3 Phase 1 Diesel Locomotive

Manufactured by the American Locomotive Company between 1950 and 1956, the ALCO RS-3 became one of North America's most recognizable diesel road switchers. Powered by the ALCO 244 diesel engine, these four-axle locomotives handled local freight trains, switching assignments, and branchline operations across numerous railroads.

The New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad operated an extensive rail network throughout New England and the northeastern United States. Its striking orange and black McGinnis-era paint scheme remains one of the most recognizable designs of the railroad's later years.
