I am a former Scalecoat paint user. I tried this Grimy Black paint recently on a locomotive. I first sprayed with a gray primer and then followed with this. I am quite pleased. The finish is a semi gloss or matte which i like. And the paint seems to grab better than the Scalecoat did. There were less "scrapes" to touch up after reassembly. So far very pleased.
