Rapido HO Scale Amtrak GP40TC Locomotives – Premium HO Scale Passenger Power
Shop the latest Rapido HO Scale Amtrak GP40TC locomotives at Fusion Scale Hobbies. Rapido’s GP40TC is one of the most accurate and highly detailed Amtrak HO scale locomotives ever produced, designed directly from original engineering drawings and real-world measurements.
This locomotive features incredible underframe detail, straight metal handrails, Cannon & Company licensed fan tooling, etched see-through steps, factory-installed grab irons, and one of the most advanced lighting systems in HO scale. Available in both DCC Ready and DCC/Sound versions, the GP40TC delivers smooth performance, reliable power pickup, and Rapido’s MoPower capacitor system for uninterrupted running.
The prototype story makes this locomotive even more special. Originally built for GO Transit, all eight GP40TC locomotives were acquired by Amtrak in 1988 and went on to power well-known services such as Hiawatha trains, Midwest corridor operations, Empire Service, the Adirondack, Maple Leaf, and Lake Shore Limited duties. Rebuilt multiple times, these locomotives still serve Amtrak today as GP38H-3 units, proving their durability and importance in passenger operations.
If you model Amtrak Phase III, Midwest passenger routes, New York Empire Service, or modern Amtrak support and maintenance trains, the Rapido GP40TC is an essential locomotive for your HO layout.
