This detailed four-axle road switcher captures the distinctive styling of Fairbanks-Morse's later H16-44 design, combining railroad-specific exterior details with Rapido's attention to prototype accuracy.

This DC/Silent, DCC-ready locomotive is designed for conventional DC operation and features a 21-pin decoder connection for modelers who wish to install DCC. It is not factory-equipped with a sound decoder.

Fairbanks-Morse H16-44 – Classic Phase III Road Switcher

Introduced in 1955, the Phase III Fairbanks-Morse H16-44 featured a redesigned carbody with raised walkways and simplified short and long hoods. Its distinctive appearance closely resembled the larger six-axle H24-66 Train Master, while retaining the H16-44's four-axle B-B wheel arrangement and 1,600-horsepower rating.

The Phase III design also incorporated an updated General Electric electrical system in place of the earlier Westinghouse equipment. These locomotives were produced through 1963, representing the final generation of Fairbanks-Morse diesel locomotive production.

Norfolk & Western #141 offers modelers a distinctive alternative to more common EMD and ALCO road switchers, making it an excellent addition to layouts representing mid-century freight operations and the diesel transition era.
