USRA-Style 40' 50-Ton Drop-Bottom Gondolas

The prototype cars featured composite construction using wood in the sides to conserve steel during World War I. The USRA design proved successful enough to remain in service for years, with cars later receiving upgrades such as newer trucks and AB brake equipment as railroads modernized their freight fleets.

Walthers Mainline recreates these historic freight cars in HO Scale with the recognizable proportions and composite-side appearance of the prototypes.
