The EMD GP38 was a versatile 2,000-horsepower, four-axle diesel locomotive that became a familiar sight on North American railroads. GP38s could be found handling road freights, local assignments and yard jobs throughout the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, while many continued working after extensive rebuilding and modernization programs.

This release represents Conrail (CR) #7672 with the extended cab configuration. Rapido developed its HO Scale GP38 family with numerous prototype-specific variations, allowing individual models to reproduce the details appropriate to their railroad and road number rather than relying on a single generic GP38 configuration.
