The EMD GP38 was a versatile 2,000-horsepower, four-axle diesel locomotive built for road freight, local freight, switching and yard assignments. A total of 706 GP38 locomotives were produced, and the type became a familiar sight across North American railroads throughout the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. Many GP38s were later rebuilt to updated standards, helping these dependable EMD road switchers remain in service for decades.

This release represents Conrail (CR) #7904 with the distinctive PRSL-style extended dual control stand cab.
