Built by the Southern Iron and Equipment Company (SIECO) beginning in the 1960s, these specialized 50' pulpwood flatcars were designed for the demanding job of hauling large quantities of cut timber. Their unmistakable appearance, including a V-sloped deck and tall end bulkheads, made them ideally suited for containing pulpwood loads while in transit. Cars of this general design remained a familiar sight in pulpwood service for decades, with examples lasting into the 2000s.
